Style Guide

When you feel comfortable, confident, and truly you, it shows in your photos. Choose outfits that not only reflect your style but are also easy to move and feel natural in—especially if we’ll be walking, sitting, or dancing a little! The goal is to keep you in your element so your photos reflect the best version of you.

MAKEUP
A little more makeup might feel like a lot..... that's just right!! Cameras minimize the appearance of makeup!
- go stronger on eyeshadow!
- more blush!
- lets try a bolder lip shade!
HAIR
Loose waves, soft curls, or a polished ponytail tend to photograph beautifully and add movement and dimension. If you're wearing your hair down, try to keep one side tucked behind your ear or pinned back slightly to avoid covering your face in photos.
SPRAY TANS
While a sun-kissed glow might seem like a great idea before your session, spray tans often don't photograph as well as expected. They can create uneven tones, especially in natural light, and editing can sometimes enhance the orange or overly warm undertones, making it difficult to achieve a natural skin tone in your final images. I recommend skipping the spray tan and embracing your natural skin tone — it always photographs best!
Try these things BEFORE your session to make you still feel like you, just an elevated version!

Girlies,
Do some researching and see what kind of style you are going for!! Are you wanting timeless and basic? Western and moody? Adventurous with movement?
Soft neutrals, warm tones, and muted colors photograph beautifully. Think beige, cream, soft rust, olive, dusty blue, or mauve. Avoid neon or super busy patterns—they can distract from your natural beauty. Avoid oranges, bright pinks, etc.
Airy dresses, skirts, oversized clothing, or wide-leg pants give your photos natural movement and depth. If you love something fitted, balance it with texture or layers (like a soft cardigan or jacket). "Flowy''
Go with shoes you love and can move in. Ankle boots, clean sneakers, strappy sandals, or even barefoot for beachy shoots all work—just make sure they match the mood of your outfit.
We can chat about this when you book!!!

Men,
Whether you're going casual or more polished, the key is to look put together without feeling stiff. Here’s how to dress confidently and photograph your best:
Earth tones, neutrals, and soft shades look great on camera. Think white, beige, olive, charcoal, navy, and dusty blues. Avoid neon, bright red, or bold patterns—they tend to overpower and clash with natural backgrounds.
Outdoor sessions pair well with relaxed styles—chinos, boots, henleys, or sweaters. Urban or editorial shoots? A crisp button-up, slim-fit jeans, or a casual blazer are perfect.
Fresh haircut? Aim for 3–5 days before the session. Trim facial hair or clean shave depending on your usual style. Keep lips moisturized and bring blotting wipes if you tend to get shiny.

Everyone,
Iron or steam outfits the night before, especially linen or cotton pieces. Wrinkles show more in high-res images than you’d expect!
If you’re taking photos as a couple or group, aim for cohesive tones, not identical outfits. Think complementary neutrals or shared color families (e.g., earth tones, soft blues, or warm browns).
Backup options are always welcome! A second top, jacket, or accessory gives you versatility without a full outfit change. It’s a quick way to add variety to your gallery.
Outfits should match the session setting: urban = sleek, nature = soft and natural. Also, wear pieces that let you move, walk, or sit comfortably.
